Last Saturday

Time has been flying by lately and I completely forgot to post this series of photos Nate prepared from our walks last Saturday.  We spent most of the day walking around, taking in the beautiful summer weather.

First thing in the morning we made our way to Tiny Marsh, hoping to catch some early migrants.  We had just started our walk when we were greeted by a family of Eastern Phoebes, pictured above.  We watched them for quite some time as they interacted with one another, then a bully of a Song Sparrow came along and chased them away....the show was over and we were on on our way.

Highlights from Tiny Marsh include seeing a new, never-before scene wildflower called Pennsylvania Smartweed...

...the scenery was spectacular inspiring me to pull out the 18-55mm to take some landscape shots...

Photo not included but a highlight nonetheless was watching the MANY Pie-billed Grebes and they were tippity-tapping on top of the water.  To say they were active would be understatement!  We also saw several Green Blue Herons, Least Bitterns and American Bitterns.

Later in the day we ventured down to the spirit catcher and walked around the bay for a couple of hours.  Here are some highlights...

For fun, I played around with the angles in this next shot of Nate taking a shot of a Canada Goose.  Nate liked it so much that in post-production he changed the angle of the shot he was taking to match the photo I took.

Nate captured this super-fantastic photo of a Song Sparrow...nice job Babe! :)

We're looking forward to another great weekend coming up -  this weather won't last much longer so we want to take in as much of it as we can.  Happy birding!
